These are the 2027 Swiss Coffee Champions

Six disciplines, exciting competitions, and plenty of coffee expertise: On October 31 and November 1, 2026, the Swiss Coffee Champions 2027 were crowned at the Swiss Coffee Festival in Zurich. Switzerland’s best baristas, coffee roasters, and sensory evaluation experts showcased their skills and competed for the coveted championship titles.

While the finals in five disciplines took place directly at the Swiss Coffee Festival at StageOne, the Swiss Roasting Championship was held from October 29 to 31 at ROSE Coffee Roasters in Zurich.

The winners will represent Switzerland in 2027 at the World Coffee Championships in Tokyo, Lisbon, Bogotá, and New Orleans.

In the end, Matt Winton prevailed over the competition and can now call himself the 2027 Swiss Barista Champion.

The next big stage is already waiting: The World Barista Championship will take place in Tokyo, Japan, from April 28 to May 1, 2027. There, Matt Winton will compete against the world’s best baristas.

Coffee in Good Spirits: Suki Ma Defends Her Title

When specialty coffee meets the world of cocktails, creativity and craftsmanship are essential. The Coffee in Good Spirits Championship combines the best of both worlds: Participants create drinks in which coffee and spirits harmonize in flavor.

Suki Ma once again excelled at this. She impressed the judges and successfully defended her Swiss championship title from the previous year.

Her next challenge takes her to Portugal: The World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship will take place June 17–19, 2027, at the World of Coffee in Lisbon.

Cup Tasters: Natalia Suska Proves She Has the Best Sense of Taste

Concentration, a trained sense of taste, and quick decision-making: At the Swiss Cup Tasters Championship, often the tiniest differences in flavor determine victory or defeat.

The task sounds simple, but it’s anything but. Contestants are presented with three cups of coffee. Two of them contain the same coffee, while the third contains a different one. The goal is to identify which one is different as quickly as possible. In the final round, there are eight such sets.

Natalia Suska kept her cool and identified seven out of eight different coffees in an incredibly fast time of just 1 minute and 40 seconds! With this impressive performance, she secured the title of Swiss Cup Tasters Champion 2027. Michal Otte also got seven correct answers, but took a little longer to do so.

At the World Cup Tasters Championship, taking place from September 30 to October 2, 2027, in Bogotá, Colombia, Natalia Suska will once again be tasked with discerning the subtle differences—this time against the world’s top sensory tasting talents.

Latte Art: Maurizio Boi Takes Home the Trophy

Precise lines, perfect symmetry, and a steady hand: The Swiss Latte Art Championship demands a great deal from its participants. Under time pressure, they create artistic patterns using espresso and milk foam, which are judged according to set criteria.

Maurizio Boi demonstrated exceptional skill and impressed the jury with his precision and creativity. With the best overall performance of the competition, he secured the title of Swiss Latte Art Champion 2027. Linda Klemm and Giuseppe Ciccone followed in second and third place, respectively.

The Swiss championship title opens the door to the international stage: From June 17–19, 2027, the latte art elite will gather at the World of Coffee in Lisbon, Portugal.

Roasting: Alfonso Pepe Is the New Swiss Champion

Even before the doors of the Swiss Coffee Festival opened, the roasters were running hot at ROSE Coffee Roasters in Zurich. From October 29 to 31, 2026, six participants in the Swiss Roasting Championship put their skills to the test.

Unlike in stage competitions, this event requires, above all, a deep understanding of green coffee and the roasting process. The participants analyze the coffees provided, develop appropriate roast profiles, and must then justify their decisions based on the resulting cup.

Alfonso Pepe delivered the best overall performance. He prevailed over the competition and secured the title of Swiss Roasting Champion 2027. Last year’s winner, Christoph Meier, took second place, followed by Jose Manuel Camara in third.

The World Coffee Championships begin for the Swiss delegation with this discipline: The World Coffee Roasting Championship will take place in New Orleans, USA, from April 9–11, 2027.
